Boating Around the Cinque Terre: Portovenere

After relaxing for a day in Manarola, we spent the next day boating around the Cinque Terre. In addition to traveling between the towns by train, you can also take a boat which is incredibly scenic. We bought a day pass which allowed us to travel to all the villages and included a trip to Portovenere, a town south of Riomaggiore. We hopped on the first boat of the day and headed off to Portovenere.

Although the boats are large ferries, you have to walk a teeny gangplank which is likely moving up and down and back and forth to board.

Sailed past Riomaggiore (visiting later that day)

And into Portovenere

Which color-wise looked a lot like the Cinque Terre towns though obviously bigger

It's hard to tell but the harbor was a busy place!

We had a couple of hours to spend before catching a boat to Riomaggiore and spent the first walking through the sites and the town.

All the boats seemed to be heading north
