A Walk to Flagstaff (the one in Dunedin)
Determined to take advantage of every ounce of sun, we went for a walk to Flagstaff with our friends Gordon and Mark. Flagstaff is one of the many peaks surrounding Dunedin. For me, it's step 1 of many in my quest to eventually do an all-day walk that will cover 3 of Dunedin's peaks including Mount Cargill. While the first part was pretty steep, it eventually flattened out a bit which made for much better breathing for this asthmatic wonder. The views from the top were stunning. All of Dunedin was laid out in front of us with beautiful views of the harbor, the peninsula, and the beaches to the south. Behind us, we could see the snow covered mountains of central Otago. The views were inspiration enough to return again and continue towards the 3 peaks goal.
