It was a beautiful sunny day yesterday which made it a perfect day to head to Manly and rent bikes to tour around the beach town. But first, I had to take a picture for my friends at SEE who have their big Homecoming Comedy Show today (Thursday in the US)!
From there, we took the ferry over to Manly. Manly is a suburb on the northern side of harbour, and a very popular beach and shopping destination. We rented bikes and biked around North Head and took a little walk out to the end. North Head is the northern entrance to Sydney Harbour, and yet again, the views, espeically those back to Sydney, were stunning. We ran into some volunteer whale watchers who were very informative and even took our picture.
From there, we rode down to the beach. We've seen lots of outdoor sea pools which are totally cool. They are filled with sea water and right in the ocean, but a bit calmer if you'd like to do laps.
After lunch, where I was the victim of an orchestrated seagull attack where they stole a piece of salt and pepper calamari (delicious!) RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX IN MY HAND, we biked the rest of the beach and returned the bikes. We grabbed some ice cream and noted how supportive the Manly community is off men doing all kinds of activities. Wink, wink.
The ferry back to Circular Quay provided some lovely shots of the Opera House and the bridge which, of course, I couldn't stop myself from taking.
Today, we're going to do the well-known Spit to Manly Walk which is about 10K, and tonight we're going to see Twelfth Night at the Opera House.
