Russ leaves NZ on Thursday, and he wanted to see the sunrise from the other side of the Pacific, so we got up early (okay only 6:30am which isn't that early in the grand scheme of things) and headed across the harbor to the peninsula. We attempted to drive to a monument atop one of the hills, but there was some serious fog as we drive higher and higher up. Like, you-could-only-see-10-feet-in-front-of-you fog. New plan. We drove back down out of the fog and tried to find a good spot to pull off the road and watch the sunrise over the hills.
We found a nice spot between a couple of sheep pastures (shocker) and set one of our cameras on time lapse (one picture every two seconds). Unfortunately, the sunrise wasn't too exciting from this vantage point. There were only a few clouds, and sunrises and sunsets seem to be most amazing when they reflect off clouds.
As the one with the shortest attention span, I got a bit bored, so I had some fun with the timer and multi-shot button with our other camera.
And then I got everyone in on the fun...first, we were a little off, but then we got it together.
