In the midst of our trip to Christchurch, we headed out to Akaroa, the oldest colonial town on the South Island and the only French settlement. It sits on a peninsula overlooking a bay that empties out into the ocean. To get there, you can either take the low road or the high road which twists and turns over the hills and the drop offs can be quite significant. Although the day was cloudy and a bit rainy, we had fun exploring Akaroa and one of the many bays on the opposite side of the peninsula (and directly on the ocean), Okains Bay. Here are some pictures of Akaroa and Okains Bay...be sure to scroll to the bottom to catch the video, Todd, The Turkey Whisperer.
