A Rainy Walk to Lover's Leap & Sandfly Bay

This weekend, Vanessa had organized a tramp (hike) for her and Russ with a few of her fellow tramping friends.  On Friday, they were supposed to head north towards Christchurch and tramp until Sunday, but the weather was against them.  They opted to stay here and do day hikes around Dunedin.  Russ, Vanessa, and Simon did the Three Peaks tramp on Friday over the local hills to Mount Cargill, and today they did another tramp, the Millenium Track, which starts at the mouth of the Taieri River.  On Saturday, we joined them for a tramp from Lover's Leap to Sandfly Bay on the Otago Peninsula (where we went last week - see blog post Russ, the Otago Peninsula & Larnach Castle). It was a bit muddy, a bit windy, and we got caught in a huge rainstorm at the end, but it was a lot of fun.  I look forward to doing it again in the spring or summer!

Tobogganing down the sand dunes
The easiest way to get down the dunes is to run...Simon is way out front, then Russ, then Vanessa.
