Sunny Birthday on Victory Beach

The best birthday gift Dunedin could give me was a sunny, warm day, and on Rapture Day, May 21st, Dunedin came through!  It was a stunningly beautiful morning, and as you know from previous posts, when the sun shines in Dunedin, WE IMMEDIATELY GO OUTSIDE!

In consultation with local knower-of-awesome-places Frances, we headed over to the Pyramids and Victory Beach on the Peninsula.  The pyramids are volcanic forms and parts look very similar to the Organ Pipes we visited near Mount Cargill.  A short climb brings to you the top of the smaller pyramid with 360 degree views of the surrounding area.
Note how the YOU ARE HERE arrow is pointing to an exploding volcano.

I am Ballerina of the Pyramid.

Organ Pipes galore!
Underneath this pyramid is a cave and a tunnel...which seem spooky until you follow the 10 year old kid, who is there and telling you it's easy, through it.
From there it was a short (but longer than we expected it to be) hike to Victory Beach.

Upon arrival, Frances whipped cookies and punch out of her backpack.  We love Frances.
We fiddled in the water, stalked some oyster catchers, and took crazy pictures of each other.

Todd and I can be really annoying.

A truly lovely way to spend a birthday...
