On the train, ready to go!

Catching some zzzzs while the French countryside flies by

Eating the most beautiful macaroon ever.

The ride was scheduled to last 5 hours and 40 minutes, but a couple of things delayed us by an hour. We don't really know what those things were as all the announcements were in French but at least one had to do with an accident.
It's a bit disarming when the train lady comes into your car and talks for a few minutes with a lot of pointing, and all the older people in the car (we seemed to have landed in the senior citizen car) make exclamations in French. Luckily, my junior high French memory kicked in again, and I said "Ne parle pas Francais" to a lovely lady who gave me a relatively understandable summary of the train lady's update. Most important news for us: the doors on our car aren't working so to get off, we need to go to the next car.
The delay wasn't a problem for us as we had no schedule for the day. Once we got to Nice, about 7:30pm, we checked in and walked the couple blocks to the beach to watch the sunset. Hello, Mediterranean.
