Today was a gray kind of day. We got up late and decided to go check out some of the beaches to the north of Kerikeri that we were told were 'pristine.' Despite the overcast skies, we piled in our cars and headed north to Matauri Beach. We took a little stroll down to one end of the beach, and just as we were back at the cars, the sky opened up, and the rain came.
We kept driving north and were going to attempt to go to another beach which was great for swimming, but it was still raining and starting to get foggy. Instead we put the petal to the metal to get to the World Famous Mangonui Fish & Chips. They were delectable.

And that's pretty much all we did today.
