The Art of Irish Stone Walls

Western Ireland is covered with beautiful stone walls.  Beautiful stone walls, you ask?  Isn't a stone wall a stone wall?  Well, this New England girl thought so, until I saw stone walls like I've never seen before.

In addition to stone walls being everywhere, and I mean, everywhere - across fields, up hills, around houses, in the middle of nowhere, they were different than our New England stone walls.  Instead of taking a pathetic stab at the engineering and artistry behind stone walls, I'll just post my pictures and refer you to a few pages that describe these Irish stone walls perfectly.
