Hello, New Zealand. Happy to meet you, Dunedin.

We made it!!!  After 38 hours of travel and three flights, we arrived safe and sound and with all our luggage (including our brooms) in Dunedin, New Zealand, our home for the next year.  Vanessa's townhouse is absolutely lovely, and I can't believe we get to live here for a year.  Not ones to waste anytime, after lunch featuring NZ drink L&P - Lemon & Paeroa - Vanessa drove us around Dunedin.  First stop, a look at the steepest street in the world - Baldwin Street. San Francisco has nothing on this street. From there, we headed up to Signal Hill Lookout to see lay of the land. From Signal Hill, let me point out some places in Dunedin - first, Vanessa's house.  (Click on the pictures to get a bigger version.)

Now, University of Otago - look for the building with the red stripe down the middle.

And then, the curling club!

After Signal Hill, we went to OUSA at Univ of Otago, and I checked out my new office digs. I start next Monday, but it was nice to get a tour with no one there. Now we're back at home, having tea, and labtopping it up.  Vanessa is on her Mac book while Todd is on his labtop while I'm on the netbook.  The dining room table is like a coffee table at a busy Starbucks. And to top it all off, I just video g-chatted with Julie Choe Kim.  This technology stuff is amazing! It's an early dinner of fish and chips, and then I'm off to bed.  I hope to make it until 6pm...
