The Jaffa Race!!!...and a head wound for Todd

The annual Cadbury Chocolate Carnival Jaffa Race is a hilarious annual event in Dunedin.  In addition to having the world's steepest street, Baldwin Street, the Cadbury factory is also here.  Each year, during Cadbury's Chocolate Carnival, they hold a Jaffa race.  At the Jaffa race, they dump 25,000 specially-made (bigger) Jaffas from the top of Baldwin Street.  Each has a number on it, and you can buy a ticket for each Jaffa.  Local charities get the money, and if your Jaffa is one of the first three through the chute at the end, you win a prize.
A Jaffa is an orange flavored chocolate ball.  It's about the size of a peanut M&M and has a hard orange shell and a chocolate center.  Click here to read more and see a picture of a (regular sized) Jaffa from Wikipedia and here to see a brief description from Cadbury's website.

Todd and I took a break from work and walked down to Baldwin Street from OUSA.  We headed about halfway up the hill to watch the race.  There is a flexible fence set up all the way up the hill to keep people off the street, and as we found out later, prevent as many Jaffas as possible as flying into the crowd.  They get some serious air as they bounce down the hill.

The first race was the traditional orange Jaffas, and the second race (after a street sweep) was of crazy new purple Jaffas (Cadbury's color is purple). Below is the video I made of the two races...make sure to watch all the way to the end!!
